On 14 November 2011, over 280 people attended the first ever Awards evening organised by Bolton's children in care council, Voice4U. Children, young people and their families, friends, foster carers, teachers and council staff were entertained by Gary Hanks (Emmerdale, Dinner Ladies), the Positive Chances Street Dance Group, and Kendro (the X-Factor).
The Mayor and Mayoress of Bolton presented over 80 children and young people with achievement awards, which were announced by Voice4U members who all looked fab.
In addition, the new Voice4U website was launched by Gemma, Voice4U's support worker. Please take a look at the site via the link below.
Members of Voice4U meet fortnightly to discuss issues concerning all of Bolton's children and young people in care. They lobby councillors and council officers with issues of concern, organise events and have fun meeting up with each other in the process.
If Bolton Council is looking after you, and you would like to be a member of Voice4U, email voice4u@bolton.gov.uk and Gemma will get in touch.
