- Every looked after child or young person has the right to have an advocate.
- An advocate can support you to ensure that your voice is heard and that your views are taken into consideration where decisions affect your life.
- Advocates are there just for you. They work only for young people and ensure that everyone listens to what you say.
Advocates can support you:
- if there are issues at school or with your education
- to have a voice in reviews and other meetings
- to attend reviews or meetings on your behalf if you don't feel able to
- if there are difficulties where you live
- if there is anything you are unhappy about and need to discuss.
Advocates can help you to make a complaint if you feel you have been unfairly treated and support you through this. See 'Complaints' page..
